I recently saw videos of Hikaru and the chessbrahs doing speedruns to 3000 with new accounts. Then I thought about doing something similar and checked the rules and regulations. it is stated that a second account is not allowed and considered cheating.
obviously chess.com knows about these speedruns, since they are done by sponsored players. I see two issues with this:
- the accounts are not marked in a way that would make it obvious that you are actually playing strong grandmasters, so the opponents are in fact being cheated.
- it encourages others to do the same, as most people wont check the rules. they will think that its ok, since known streamers are doing it as well.
I asked support about this 5 days ago and didnt get an answer. so maybe somone here can explain to me, why these runs are being tolerated?
I do not blame the streamers in any way, since I assume they informed chess.com about this. the issues stated above still remain, but are chess.com's responsibility
I think you have a point. It does set a bad example.
It must be hard for somebody like Hikaru to have no one here to challenge him.
