ok ill try it again
my live chess isn't working

i can log in and get a welcome screen, then the window where the chess board should be is always blank. what should i do? thank you if you can help in advance

When you go into live chess you will a blank window with a small box in the center saying "logging in"
Once you've logged in, you should see these windows;
The main chess board you can see, is used for practice and you can move all the pieces yourself. Once you close this chessboard, that part of the screen will show as all grey until you either start a new game or accept someone elses challenge.
If you're using Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8 you may experience problems logging in. If you are, please try using either google chrome or firefox 3.

i get this but after i exit out of it, the little welcome to chess.com and chess board do not show up the window is just blank. not even the heading shows up in that board you posted

Starting a Game
Creating a Seek - A "seek" is an open invitation to play. You click on the Create New Seek button to create an open seek that other players can view and accept. You can add in some parameters such as rating and time controls.
Finding a Game - If you want to look for other open seeks or invitations, use the "Seeks" panel in the Room window. You will see a list of available games. If you want to play, just click on the accept link.
Offering a Challenge - To challenge one player specifically. The easiest way is to click on their name and then using the popup choose "Challenge". The other way is to find them in the Players list in the Rooms window and click on the challenge link.
Interacting with Members - You can click on a player's name to see more information about them, challenge them, or observe the game they are playing!
Playing
Moving the Pieces - Moving the chess pieces is easy! You can either drag the pieces with your mouse, or click on the piece and then again on it's destination square.
How to Chat - To chat in simply type into the white text box below the chat area and hit ENTER on your keyboard.
Time Controls - Games on Live Chess are timed. There are two numbers for time: the first number is how many minutes you have to make all of your moves. The second number is how many bonus seconds you get for every move you make. So a time of 5 | 5 means five minutes + 5 seconds per move.
Lag - "Lag" is a measure of how much time it takes for the move made on your computer to be recognized by the server. The further you are away from our Live server (which is in Los Angeles, CA, USA), the longer the lag will be. We use lag-detection technology to determine lag and add time back to the clock to compensate. If you see your opponents time suddenly jump up, that is because they have a high lag. They didn't see your move that entire time it was lagging, so their time doesn't count down during that time.
Using the Interface
Windows - Live Chess uses an interactive much like your Windows/Mac/Linux operating system desktop - you can minimize/mazimize, resize, and change the location of the different windows on the screen. The main windows are Control Panel, Room, and Board.
Tabs - The different windows (Control Panel, Room, etc) have tabs where you access the info you need. For example, click on the Settings tab to change your Live Chess settings.
Changing Settings - There is a Settings tab where you can choose options like board size, pieces style, colors, sound, etc.

What you are seeing, is what shows up if you click on this red circled area
By using that "Need help, click here for a quick tutorial" it will open the pages you saw and which you posted above.
When you go into live chess, leave that main window you see above alone for the moment.
Look at this picture below,In the red circled areas, you will see "Seeks" and "Start New Game" . You can use the "Seeks" tab to accept a challenge someone else has created, or use the "Start Game" to create your own

Starting a new game in live chess FAQ
Start New game – For Live Chess Games
In the Room -Main Hall, click on the "Seeks" tab. Click on the button marked "Start New Game"
A box will appear that lets you decide what games you want to play, what color and how long for. The box at the top says easy presets . you can use the drop down box to set times to play –
* Initial time; is for the minutes you want to play
* Bonus time; this is for seconds - if you use this, a game will show as, for example 3|10 this means, 3 minute game, with 10 seconds bonus time
(After every move you make, you get 10 seconds added to your time, then after your opponent moves, he gets 10 seconds added to his time)
In the seconds box, you can use anything up to 59 seconds
* Min rating; is for you to type in the lowest rating of a player you are willing to play
* Max rating; means, you don't want to play anyone above the rating you enter
* I Play As; use the drop down box to choose whether you want to play as black or white
* Rated; rated games means you play for ratings points. Win/lose or draw, rated game will affect your ratings.
* Unrated; does not affect ratings/points whether you win/lose or draw
Once you've set up the game, click seek and it will appear in the seeks challenge box for others to accept.
If you change your mind about the game, you can view your own challenge in the main seeks box and there is a cancel option next to your seek but only before someone accepts it.
You can end / abort a rated game before white has made its 4th move and it won't affect your ratings
