Pausing live games

In certain cases a pause in a live game is really needed. I understand that simply adding the option to do so could be abused a lot, just like turning on vacation mode during long time games. But what if it was like a request you can send your opponnent? like a remis both sides would have to aggree before the game gets paused.
lets say someone needs to take a phone call and sends a request to his opponent for a 3 minute pause. maybe even communicate it first via chat, or the request could have an "reasoning-section" where the person requesting adds a short message as a reason. after aggreeing to pausing the game the timer starts, clearly visible on the screen. to prevent abuse even further the screen could turn black to hide the board and only show the timer.

thoughts?

Unfortunately people will abuse this option in my view.

"Sorry friend, i really need to take this call"

.....quickly sets up board position on a chess engine.

Lag.com strikes again. Bullet is unplayable. Bilichess works fine meanwhile.

Lag.com strikes once more this moment, it’s getting worse by the day, and still no decent reaction.

Very strange logic here I must say. What's the problem if one player asks for Pause - the other one has the option of declining. Would make chess.com a much better place actually. Please explain.
