Truse me, they do not get any extra time. They only start to see the board when their time starts running.

what are you talking about. You are just playing people with a lag and think they are doing something malicious
Yep... there's also a conspiracy to hack 1 point off everyone's rating and give it to one particular player so they become rated 60,000 ... maybe no one will notice :). And while they're at it these ever, intelligent hackers will get into the bank system too and hack our credit card information, seems like a better use of time :P.
It is sac but ture. Many players arein quick are using time unfairly when they manipulate their time to run slower on their moves. They disgarece quick games by their dishonest paractices ,yet server does not prevent this from happening
It is sad but true. Many players who play quick time controls in live chess are cheating when they manipulate their clock to run slower when it is their turn. They disgrace quick games by their dishonest practices, yet the server does not prevent this from happening.
An excellent translation! Did you do it yourself, or use an online translating service?
Translation: Ozzie, you are so awesome!
This article describes the scenario farily well, give this a read: http://support.chess.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=678 .

How are they doing this? From where can I download this clock altering program so I can test this out for myself?
Are you sure it's not just your perception of time? The pressure of making a move makes you think the sands of time runneth faster for you, while waiting for your opponent's move seems interminable as you have nothing to do but stare anxiously at the board wondering whether he will notice the terrible blunder you just made?
I have had a few newer players suggest that I am cheating with the clock somehow. They don't understand how LAG effects the game. Since both players have a board on their monitor, due to LAG, the clocks are not always the same on both systems. Each player, however, cannot get more than the time allowed.
To anybody who thinks that their opponent is clock cheating: If you do not understand lag, then go read about it and rethink your position.
lol, i'm an IT and i can tell you for sure, noone is using "TIME HACKS" to increase their time, it's lag....alright so what normally happenes when a person who is lagging submits a move
1.their move is submitted (and not immediately given to the server because of their connection problems)
BEFORE MOVE IS SUBMITTED TO THE SERVER ( 2A 2B)
2. a. time continues to run as normal until their move is given to the server (on non-lagging persons screen)
2 b. TIME STOPS (on lagging persons screen)
MOVE IS GIVEN TO THE SERVER
3.The server readjusts the time on both screens to that of the lagging persons computer (if you can't figure out why this is, please think harder)
the above above is my introduction for "SERVER CHESS LAG FOR DUMMIES"
on the persons side of the screen that is lagging, all would appear normal to him...and when you accuse him of cheating he won't have any idea what you are talking about...the facts are that you are 100% more likely to be cheated out of games which are in the long, and (longer)blitz type games (14 mins etc)
When the person who is not lagging makes a move the situation will reversed...i'm sure if you think you can understand why
Lagging allows both sides to look at the board for longer, even if it is without the move, which totally defeats the point of 1min blitz. I don't think people with extreme lag should be allowed to play 1min blitz. This can be arranged by setting a limit on the amount of time the server 'gives back to them'.
see people we NOW have a valid argument
RainbowRising, i don't think it would be possible, because they could always start lagging after the games start of midway through...what would be your solution for that situation?
ericbarber, they don't get to play another quick game after that. They can play blitz until it's found they don't have large lag. I'm not sure I'm for this, but it's possible.

This is what makes me suspcious of some players...
Although I understand the basic concepts of server lag and also helped by your excellent explanation for dummies, I normally play 5 min games only but eventually I noticed a huge variation in move times and the lag during these games...
Is it possible to have such variation in lag in this short time?
The funny part is, as soon as they appear to be in a winning position, their lag disappears, hehehe...
