I have lost 300 in a week before, it just happens. Sometimes you just need to step away for a bit, and you usually do at least a little better when you come back

Timmeh2007

I know, but I just tilt way too often, it happens all the time...

Can you think of something you may need to do that may help your play? Maybe start with some puzzles before games, or play a different time control than the norm. For example, my bullet had dropped when I played 1 min and hyperbullet, but 2+1 brought it back. Same with 3 min -> 5 min games in blitz for me.

I could go on for a long time but I'll try to keep this short.

Chess is not just about the skill you have obtained in chess. It's more of a mind game. When you go on tilt you start losing to people you are quite obviously better than. But you're losing, why?

Your brain has decided the outcome of the game before the game even starts. The reason you hit tilt is when your mindset is in decay and you tell yourself inadvertently that you're going to lose even when you're better. This is unhealthy and almost always digs the tilt deeper.

On the flip side, when you're grinding and seem to be unstoppable it's because you have a great mindset. This is the place we need to remain.

How to stay in the GM?

Convince your brain to tell yourself to win. Take a break when you lose 3 games in a row and breath or even just stop playing for the day.

Clear your cache by getting up and taking a walk for a bit.

It happens to me all the time, but I've noticed that when I'm starting to tilt if I stop for even just 5 or 10 minutes, like relaxing and getting a small snack or going outside for a little bit or take a small walk or something, it helps to reset the focus. When you feel that, try playing again with a positive mindset but don't forget to also focus on calculating and such also.

I've tried some of that before and still tilted...

Bruvoskity

Your mindset still wasn't good then.

I'm actually working on creating a blog series that will tackle our mindset and I will be attempting to find ways to get into a great mindset

Find some accountability to stop playing if you lose 2-3 games in a row. I’d recommend 2, but choose a specific number. Find someone who will hold you to that if possible. Then take that break from chess and maybe come back later.

And yes, this has totally helped me. People become mad about losing 2-3 games, and if they continue playing, they won’t be playing with a clear mind. So just stop playing after losing around that number.
