Ugly square move borders

I've noticed that the format that tracks the recent moves has changed to an ugly square outline.  it is very distracting when i play.  is there a way to toggle this option off?  thanks

I noticed that too.  I don't think there's a way to change it back (as we didn't change it in the first place).  But if it really annoys you, there is an option to toggle it off.

http://www.chess.com/home/echess_settings Following the link, scroll down to "Move Preferences", and uncheck the box "Highlight the square of the last move made".

thanks a lot Lela

actually i tried that, it didn't change anything; I still have the ugly borders.  I think that option doesn't apply to live chess or something.  i cannot get over how distracting it is.  I play a lot of bullet and now I might have 4 distracting little squares highlighted because I make premoves.  The squares distract me from seeing the entire board and potential target squares Cry

Yeah those settings are for correspondence chess.  I don't see any similar check box in the live settings.  :(

Though highlighting the previous move is a lot more useful in live chess (since you don't have time to be fussing around with that).  I guess it just takes getting used to.

Hi guys,

There is an option to remove the last highlighted move in live chess.

Access live chess, go to your settings either found in the upper right hand corner of the screen or directly below the main chat box, in the new box that opens go to the "style" tab, then uncheck the "highlight last move" box.

However, please note that we have confirmed a bug with this feature and are working hard on getting it fixed. If you disable this feature and then try to make a move by clicking your piece and then clicking its destination square rather than clicking and dragging, you will not be able to move.

So, just a heads up before you go ahead and disable highlighting :-)

this new way of hghlighting is awful and very distracting.

even if you disable the 'highlight last move'  it still highlights premoves in pink which is very distracting.  it also highlights opponents moves.

this new 'feature' is like taking 10 steps back.... please throw the feature in the bin!

as far as i can tell there is no way to remove this Kansha, i don't understand what you are saying.  this new 'feature' is distracting, it adds nothing to the game, it just interferes with your vision of the board.  i have to now adjust the way i look at the board playing with this new setting.  if i am distracted by the highlighted squares i will probably lose any blitz game i play.  there is no reason for the update, we know what moves we are playing and we can see the other person make their moves.

why does it help to see the moves highlighted with the distracting borders?

i know how to remove border
first click this link https://www.chess.com/settings/board
then turn off the highlight move
and dont forget to save
