Thank you for your notification of the upcoming tournament at ITChess Club, Sligo. However, I will not be participating as I refuse to engage in any activity, chess or otherwise, which discriminates against people based on their medical status. Enforcing the draconian digital so-called health pass contravenes the Equal Status Act of 2010, the European Charter on Human Rights not to mention breaching GDPR codes and for me to endorse this would go against every fibre of my moral being. There is no place in any civilised society for discrimination and segregation.

This is to all those who would like to participate in an OTB, FIDE-Rated tournament in Ireland. The tournament is April 29th to May 1st at IT Sligo in Sligo, Ireland. The tournament website is itsligochesstournament.ie.
If you'd like to play some chess IRL, earn a FIDE rating, and socialise in a welcoming chess atmosphere, this is the event for you. There are sections for different ratings of players so you don't need to be an expert to play. There will be plenty of unrated players getting involved at a lower level. With that said, we also have GM Alex Baburin, Ireland's only GM, confirmed to attend so we will have an exciting Master section, too.
