I tried to think a bit, but I can't come up with anything better. I'm pretty sure it exists, but I imagine it will a little complicated.
Forced checkmate in 1 (anti-puzzle)
I think the maximum is over 30. Fifteen is just a start.
Btw, the "Fun" forum is probably perfect for this. "More Puzzles" is second best

Sure I can make a puzzle where there are 30 mates in 1.
But every legal move is a mate in 1? Show me how you can beat his.

That's an example of a "one-mover construction task". I have an old book that gives the records for some of these tasks (not sure if they have been broken since). Here's the position for 29 forced mates, using no promoted pieces. If promoted pieces are allowed, the record is 50.

The record with promoted pieces is actually 55, Rocky.

Thanks, Rewan! So it seems that Zagler broke Dittmann's 50-moves record by using a similar matrix a few years later. BTW, Tim Krabb's Diary #334 shows the original record; the improved 55-moves one is given in Diary #383 https://timkr.home.xs4all.nl/chess2/diary.htm

You’re very welcome Rocky! I forget to give the right entry hahaha. Also, did you know that Shinkman actually achieve 50 in a s#1 long before Dittmann? See P1098140.

Wow, the P1098140 by Blathy (not Shinkman ) is virtually the same position as Dittmann's – not merely the same matrix – with the colours reversed. Poor Dittmann got anticipated by about 50 years.
Note that it is easy to convert the 55 times forced #1 problem into a S#1 problem with 55 variations. Actually Zaglers diagram is already a valid S#1 after you only switch the colors and place the mirrored Ba8 on b7.
Hope this is the right forum for this...
As part of the friendly banter between me and friends at my chess club, I set my friend a "puzzle" of white to win. But actually white can *only* checkmate black; there are 15 legal moves that white has and they all checkmate black (any rook move is checkmate, plus b7#).
If I sound like a bad person, note he teases me a lot too.
Then I tried to see if I could improve on 15 moves, but it seems harder than it appears at first glance. Can anyone improve on it?
