There is a mate in 3 here: Check with knight.

If he takes, queen takes his knight and rook to H file after he takes queen.

If he goes to h8 instead, queen takes knight again, he takes queen, rook to g8 checkmate.

No, queen takes knight on the first move wont work, cause king can go to g8 and after you check with knight, it will go to f7.

Yes, there are a few mate that are much shorter, beginning with Qxh6 !!
