I like to get the game over with asap :-)

Same here.

And you improved on my puzzle!

Nerd-Man

yea

Exactly. The trick is, in most cases, you have to move your king more than your Queen (since the queen has a wider range of moves and you need both to checkmate). But it's insane how many people I've won games to when I'm the one with just the King, just because they can't figure that out. Instead, they just kind of flail around the board stupidly, until the time runs out.  I guess they think the opposite, that because the Queen is more powerful it can easier force the King away to the edge of the board. I was the same way when I was a beginner.

So there is mate in 5 in the position, but the "solution" is mate in 10. Can someone explain me the joke? I don't get it.

Chessflyfisher

This was kind of dumb.

I know, NervesofButter just improved on my play. The strategy used in my puzzle is more practical with rooks:

I don't think you know what a "puzzle" is.

"There are 28 different solutions, but this one is the one I like, so all others are incorrect" is not a puzzle in any sense of the word.

I completely agree. My puzzles were meant to be more about strategy that one particular series of moves out of hundreds being "the right one."
