Puzzle Points

As a new feature, it is now possible to collect “puzzle points” in addition to solving puzzles in regular mode. My points in the regular mode are about 2400, and in the puzzle solve mode the score is about 4300. Are the points in the two modes calculated separately or do they affect each other?

The points in Puzzle Journey are a completely separate thing but your puzzle rating still changes while in the feature.
If you do puzzles with the feature off, you don't get any points on the Puzzle Journey feature, just rating.
