White to play and win. Unlike what you may have expected, the black pawns are actually about to queen. 7 of them are about to queen. However, white has 3 queens. Find the only path to win this game (in fact, the only way not to lose).

EDIT: As noted by PaulG53, there are 6 pawns about to queen. My bad.

That looks way too difficult looks like its going to give me a headache

I think the move is 1.Qxb2

PaulG53

1. Qxb2 f1=Q+

What then?

I don't think Qxb2.

Also how are 7 pawns about to queen? 6 can queen on the next move. The other 2 need something to move out of the way.

ldrennan819

1. Qxb2 f1=Q+ 2. Ke8 and I don't think anything can stop Qxc2 and mate to follow.

Qxb2   c8=Q

Qxc1+  d7xc1

Qxc1+  Kxc1

Qa1+   ....

Qb1#

Pawns move backwards?!

chesskingdreamer

No one has thus far solved, but I can tell you that Qxb2 is the correct first move.

adumbrate

What is your move after Qxb2? I see lines like Qxb2 c1=Q Qb3+ Qc2 Qa1#

chesskingdreamer

After Qxb2 I play f1=Q+.

adumbrate

Then I play Ke6

1. Qxb2 f1=Q+ 2. Ke6

Diakonia

1.Qb2 c1/Q 2.Qb3+ Qc2 3.Qa1++

adumbrate

1. Qb1+ is not legal

chesskingdreamer

After Ke6 I defend with Qf3. Please try another soution.

austinqwerty123

Q*b2 only way to prevent mate in 1 is either (c1=Q or f1=Q+) if ....c1=Q , Qb3+ which he can block with either Qc2 or Kc1 where in both Qa1 mate in a few moves

if ....f1=Q+, Kg8 then the original plan

austinqwerty123

both stockfish and critter say its drawn because of perpetual check by black

Could you post this with PNG, please? I'd like to give it a go.

Hey! Yes, Der-Schachspieler has the correct answer, who also undoubtably used an engine. Originally, stockfish will give a draw, but then after a while, it will revert to white wins.
