If I remember well, it was a game played under some sort of speed chess condition. Which cannot be considered a serious defeat.

Blitz is your main thing here @Arisktotle there's no reason to talk it down. Sure it's not like losing a World Championship game, but it was a great game nevertheless.

In chess, a game is great when it stands up under analysis - not when a player miraculously escapes by time stress or wins by it. Magnus would have been ashamed of overlooking that move in any sort of standard game with some minutes on the clock. I would in my prime though my rating was just in the 2200 range. Then of course I am a good puzzler who eats such combinations for breakfast.

Here is the game. Magnus was not under severe time pressure, he just got outplayed. Supi played some great moves in the game.
