This took my a while but you have to move either knights towards the white king then move either rooks depending on how you move the knights to mate

I might move the rook on the c file depending where you move you knights

A twomover with 2 faces. The ambush keymove is great but the follow-ups are poor after 3 of the 4 replies - multiple ways to hand out the checkmates! Is the position correct?

Rocky64

Yes, this seems like a bizarre composition. The unique key-move and multiple near-tries with such a strong white force suggest a carefully constructed position, and yet in most of the variations, the white mating moves are hopelessly dualised.

The explanation is that someone apparently modified an old composition, effectively ruining it just to make the diagram position look a bit more striking. Here's the original mate-in-2 problem, where all the variation-mates are dual-free.

Ah, that's very nice - with an even better key move! The duals are gone and the one minus remaining is that one checkmate move features in 2 variations. Which makes me happy. What else would remain there for me to comment on?
