Are introverts generally smarter than extroverts?

Well, numerous studies have shown that higher IQ and introverted tendencies may be linked.

It's said that introverts have the upper hand in observational and listening skills because of their laid-back attitude. Whereas, extroverts who exhibit proactive behavior are more likely to find success in their careers. So, who wins in a head-to-head battle of smarts?

Overall intelligence. The ability to learn and process new information, cognitive abilities, etc.

Introverts might be more knowledgeable because they may have spent more time reading and/or learning than extroverts, who probably spent more time socializing. On the other hand, extroverts may be more charismatic from having more polished social skills. I don't believe one group is any more intelligent than the other, just different.

It just doesn't make sense for me to judge someones intelligence by how much they talk around people

Of course, it would be absurd to conclude that all introverts/extroverts are smart and the rest aren't. Introverts and extroverts exhibit unique characteristics and distinct personalities. Who do you think would on average would perform better on a test that would challenge your intellectual capabilities?
