Pastrami (Turkish: pastırma, Romanian: pastramă, Bulgarian: пастърма, Russian: пастрами, Greek: καπνιστό βοδινό κρέας) is a meat product usually made from beef, and sometimes from pork, muttonor turkey. The raw meat is brined, partially dried, seasoned with herbs and spices, then smoked and steamed. In the United States, although beef plate is the traditional cut of meat for making pastrami, it is now common to see it made from beef brisket, beef round, and turkey. Like corned beef, pastrami was originally created as a way to preserve meat before refrigeration.

Countries and regions across Europe make their own traditional varieties of salami.

The sandwich is considered to be the namesake of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, because of the claim that he was the eponymous inventor of this food combination. The Wall Street Journal has described it as Britain's "biggest contribution to gastronomy".

Yes the Earl of Sandwich invented the sandwich.Hence the reason it was named after him.As for the wall street journal I disagree

What would be Britains "biggest contribution to gastronomy"? Fish and chips?
