Here’s chapter God-knows-what of a book I’m writing for fun. Context: This is about a family who live in the country. They’re a pretty ordinary stereotypical country fam. They go to church every Sunday and have a strong faith in God. They adopt a teenage girl called Eve who has been in foster care throughout her life, and she’s very attached to her friends who were in the system with her. They constantly text and call each other. The family has a daughter called Livvy, who’s eight. One day Livvy and Eve get into a fight (bc they have to share a room) and then… book chapter starts now. Btw it’s told from Eve’s perspective.
I sat down on the bed, breathing heavily. I got my phone out and messaged Connor and the others. I hate it here, I hate it. I sent the text, and barely a second after I heard screaming from outside.
‘Livvy! Oh God, call an ambulance!’ I rushed outside. Damien was holding Livvy in his arms. She was very still and pale and her eyes were shut. I looked at her, trembling. ‘What’s happened?’ I whispered. My throat felt very tight. ‘Her horse- I think she fell or something!’ Kristy said. She started sobbing. ‘My daughter, my Liv!’ She cried.
Damien had out his phone and was calling an ambulance. ‘Baby, can you hear me!’ He cried, clutching Livvy.
I heard a siren, a shout, noises. The paramedics. Then words sticking out. ‘She’s breathing. She’s going to be fine.’ I felt dizzy. Then I faintly saw Kristy climbing into the back of the ambulance.
