THE HUNTSMANS SECRET WINTER WAR,(fantasy) This fairytale isn't suitable for young kids ,In fact its quite a terrifying horror movie ,Two sisters one more evil than the other wage war after war ,recruiting young children in to their armies as they conquer lands near and far ,A mirror that was hidden reveals itself and with that in their grasp they are indestrucable ,Only a huntsman stands in their way ,[8~10]

THE BOY NEXT DOOR (SUSPENSE) A young man befriends his next door neighbour (J.Lo.) .with terrifying consequences as his friendship turns to obsession.Chicks will love this slow moving drama which builds into a climatic finish [6~10]

"The Wild Geese". Goes back a bit but is a gripping recreation of the soldiers of fortune who were active in parts of Africa from the 60's.It focuses on issues such as the greed of financiers political expedience and plenty of military action. Many good actors played roles including Richard Burton ,Richard Harris and Stuart Grainger. The theme song is "The flight of the Wild Geese" written by Joan Armatrading. Some commentators suggest that the plot was taken from the real life experiences of Mike Hoare and his soldiers in the Congo in the 60's.

The name "Wild Geese"as in "Flight of the Wild Geese" originated in Ireland,as early Jacobite rebellion leaders were forced to flee Ireland to avoid capture by thr British ,They went to France to continue the struggle there and that I think is where the name first found fame,These events happened in the 17th century ,(if memory serves)

Any movies that you have an opinion on or would like to review ,please feel free to post it here.;^)

Thank you r-r for the above info.Re Mike Hoare ("Mad Mike") I think he was of Irish ancestry-born in India-educated in England and emigrated to SA.In the second WW he signed up with the London Irish rifles. As you know he was a proactive "Soldier" especially in the 60's .My father knew him very well I met him in person-very interesting.By the way I think you are an active participant in "Team South Africa" ?

DAYLIGHTS END (horror)A vampire plague has decimated the human population ,A modern day Van Helsing goes in search of the alpha vampire ,killng any others he finds along the way.,He happens across a group of humans who are holed up in a deserted police precinct.Suitably shot in Texas ,their hideaway becomes an Alamo ,The final outpost to stop the hoardes of bloodthirsty vampires, This is a very good show ,its not your usual ham production and is well worth a view .[8~10]

CELL》》》John Cusack ,Samuel L Jackson team up again for another supernatural thriller,While at an airport Johns character is thrown into the middle of an horrific bloodfest! !!! An above average horror flick ,[ 7~10]

Anotherclassic albeit with white whiskers on it-is "Casablanca".It featured some famous actors of the time (the 40s) including Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Also the pianist Dooley Wilson who played some iconic songs of the time including "As time goes by".In a nutshell the plot centred around "Ricks Bar" in Casablanca .Rick(Bogart) was caught up in the "Resistance" against the Germans. The plot featured action, intrigue and aborted Romance .Also had an insight to the positive side of human relationships. At one stage the Germans visited Casablanca (then part of unoccupied France). The interaction between the French and German visitors was well portrayed. At one stage the German visitors were drinking in Ricks Bar" when the Germans started singing "Die Wacht am Rhein"- a rousing tune which in the film was presented as a Nazi song(in fact this tune was a folk song and was composed before the first world war.During the German's rendition the pianist changed the tune to La Marseillaise(National anthem of France). The melodic interposition of the German and French tunes was interesting-In the end the Germans stopped singing and the French Anthem prevailed-vive la France! This film is worth visiting.May be possibly on Youtube.Well worth a view.

And from the sublime to the slightly ridiculous
MONEY MONSTER, George Clooney ,Julia Roberts,
This movie starts off in slapstick fashion that betrays it ultimate genre,George plays a T.V.money programme host who jazzes his show up with offbeat acting and dancing girls. Julia plays his director ,Their world is thrown into chaos upon the arrival of a delivery man who wanders on set during a live broadcast,The movie slowly changes formats to a suspense driven climax. You,ll either be gripped by this flick or find yourself somewhat bemused by it .! Didn't quite work for me [7~10]>
