castles

recently i was asked for pics of castles , as a fellow ccer really likes them and so do i cos lets face it they are great arent they whether you are attacking or defending them , so here goes

the first castle i ever went to is in North wales , in a town called Conwy , this castle and its walls remains open to the public , for a fee , but it made my holiday so here it is

a very famous castle even has its own song

although the general view of castles are something like these , before the norman conquest before even the roman invasion , we have two i love one fell to rome the other  it is rumoured didnt

next Arundel castle

really enjoyed visiting this place took me 4 days walk from Cork , uphill get a glimpse downhill days on end lol , this is where Irish kings were crowned

now this place is part of english folklore , and still stands , Tintagel , here it was that uther pendragon disguised by merlin snuck in and met the barons wife thinking it her husband they retired to the bedroom and from this union was born Arthur

a sadder place rumored haunted , Rait Castle

William the conqueror , set to work after the battle of Hastings in fortifying his new kingdom , many of englands castles come from the normans and were taken up by there descendents esp edward longshanks and his welsh castles

 here is one of the earliest william built , the tower of london , a place not only fit for a king but also a prison were executions happened and most definatly claiims to be haunted

formidable structures to attack , a recognised ratio is 4 attackers to 1 defender and even that may not win the day ,,, lets see how monty python handle attacking a castle

gotta admit im blown away with how the Romans seiged this place ,       

and now you see why i am so in awe of this place , and hope to visit it one day
