I’ve just started watching a TV series called Checkmate. It’s a strange hybrid of travel show and talent contest with players competing in Gozo for, I think, £20,000. I wondered whether anyone else had seen it/liked it/hated it? I’m not sure yet - but I think it’s great to see chess on television again (I vaguely remember the BBC running a series when I was a child but nothing since then).

Yes - pretty dry! I like the fact it exists but not surprised there's only one series. There were a few continuity errors that annoyed me too. I do wish there was a decent chess programme but it's a pretty tough game to make televisual.
