Several years ago, I came across affirmations for improving your chess. I started to doubt the fairness of them soon depending upon how you use them. What do you think? If for example, I have the affirmation "I am enjoying the game" and I end up enjoying the game and improving as a result, is that cheating? Or saying "I am very motivated to be a master" is that cheating if it works? The reason I think that chess affirmations may be cheating depending on how you use them is because you're getting results in an easy way, not for example becoming a master the hard way by not using an affirmation. I did speak to one person about this and she said it's not cheating because affimrations are positive statements. You can also think of them maybe as how they say in karate "we're motivated". But is this different in chess?
I don't think anyone in touch with sanity could object.
