Poker just doesn't do it for me. The only game I play that isn't a video game is Chess.
Chess or Poker

Simply no comparison, poker is a game of deceit and guile and not a little luck, chess is a game of strategy that reflects not only the human mind but a truly universal logic,,,really there is no comparison.

my friend quit chess because of poker i told him that poker is a luck and that he is a fool to do that :)and ofcourse that full tilt is not random ...

Poker is lame. With poker you can be completely new to it and win it all. Look at Moneymaker...enough said.
Chess requires hard work. When you are at the top tables in a Chess tournament you know everyone got there by hard work and dedication.
In poker you can have some people at the top table by dumb luck.
And one last thing, I can beat the best poker player sometimes.
I can't beat the best Chess player, it would never happen.

I like chess and poker. It's a lot easier to make money playing poker. If you are one of the best chess players in the world, there's still a pretty good chance you have a day job.

poker is a game of luck. it bothers me when people try and break poker down to a science. i agree you need to know how to play the cards, and u need to know how to play simple probabilities....and all these things you can teach a monkey. poker is fun to play once in a while, and so is snakes and latters.
I'm not going to get into the rigged debate. Okay, maybe a little: anyone who says it is rigged is ignorant (in the most literal sense of the word) about the world of internet poker. There are certainly shady things going on, especially bots, but not rigging. And that can and is frequently mathematically proven beyond all doubt.
Poker or chess? In order to win money in the long run at raked poker, you *must* be in the top 10% or so of players. I know that everyone who talks about poker says they are winning money, but most of them aren't. I wasn't. I could break even for long stretches, maybe even win enough to cash out for awhile, but eventually I'd lose it. The rake is just too much. And I know the game better than most people who talk about it. And poker's not fun if you are losing money. Basically, you have to be the equivalent of a 1900+ USCF player to enjoy poker.
By contrast, most chess players will end up winning and losing almost equally. Whether in swiss tournaments or selecting our own opponents, you will naturally find opponents of your own level over time and win and lose about equal amounts.
Honestly, although I enjoy poker occasionally still, chess is much more rewarding.
I am wondering how many of you have quit chess to play poker, or play chess much less so you can focus on poker.
