I'm not saying that Pronger is less of a goon, but the reason that he is viewed differently is that he can play. Simon is a goon, and nothing else. All he can do is beat up other people. Pronger, on the other hand, can actually play defense, as well as pass the puck, and he even scores every now and then. Is it right? Probably not, but it is the way it is, and I doubt that will ever change. The talented players have always been able to get away with more than the untalented ones.
I guess, but the fact that one is a goon or not should not even play into the decision of length of suspension. And I see your point about "that is the way it is", but it is unfortunate to say the least. They should be making an example out of pronger.

I defy anyone to tell me why Pronger is less of a goon than Chris Simon. What a brutal double standard in the NHL for more skilled players. This is Prongers 8th suspension.....
