With the convenience of using phone and tablet or laptop computers, I wonder why some people still use desktop computers in their homes. It's too old-fashioned if you ask me. Yet, sometimes I think chess.com players who use PC are cooler and richer than me.

I have always preferred using a desktop over a laptop. You get better performance, even if they have the exactly same parts. And the upgradeability that a desktop can offer is very impressive.

There are several parts that you cannot upgrade in a laptop. Upgrading a desktop is pretty simple. All you have to do is, to unscrew the two thumb screws on the cabinet and then pop in or out your desired part, be it a GPU, ram or your SSD.

I am not an expert on computer specs but I get what you mean, being a former PC user myself. Oh, how I miss my beloved best friend Chessmaster 4000 Turbo. My brother gave me a PC but he probably removed the CD drive. I can't reformat it. It freezes probably because of virus or malware.

I build a computer for myself last year.

I ordered the parts from amazon and then assembled it. It took me 40 minutes or so to assemble it and another 30 minutes to install the Windows and all. Besides, it was a ton of fun.

You should also build a computer for you. Believe me you'll love it. It is easier than ever before. There are myriad number of youtubers who are teaching how to build computers.

I might. Thanks for the encouragement. Chessmaster 4000 Turbo and its successors are the ones who keep me wanting to have a PC again.

Yeah...well if you see it doesn't really matter if you use a pc or a laptop. It's not about the hardware in your rig, it is about the software in your heart!
