Let's make more unrepentant cheaters?

No thanks.

muhamadkhabibi

no matter what, the previous incident lifted the arena world with the addition of new enthusiasts ;)

llama47

Yes, that was good happy.png

yaay

RussPlaysBad

He made 7k off that. I'll cheat and be exposed worldwide for that cash. Someone set it up while I rev my rating.

RussPlaysBad

What engine should I claim I've been playing?

This whole incident was the first time in my life I got a glimpse into the culture and the mindset of average Indonesians. It was not very positive.

In any county there are cheaters and there are people who will post nasty things online... I don't think it's fair to look at the worst people can say that's the average.

Most people don't play chess of course, and I heard that their media presented the story in a way that made it seem very unfair to Dewa Kipas... which means of course they will believe chess.com is a fraud or some other silly thing that chess players know is not true... that was the whole reason for the live match to get some proof about how well he could play.

Yes it's very annoying that a cheater makes money from lies and cheating, but again, I'm sure he doesn't represent the country.

llama47

Sure sure, that makes sense.

It's just that, I think normal, healthy, well adjusted adults don't post a lot online. They're more concerned with their job, family, hobbies, etc. So whether they posted good things or bad things, the group we're starting with is already the bottom __%

llama47

That's how I see it anyway.

hypermuddish

now chess.com needs to make AI that imitate dewa kipas in every country until le cheiss taketh over le world!!!

I bet there were.

Just not any that were "normal, healthy, and well adjusted"

Not good to judge an entire country just based on how a few bad ones behave .

Having a nice job or good education doesn't make you a good person happy.png

In the end the so- called match only further verified previous accusations of cheating confirming CC’s action in banning the account. On display were his chess skills - nowhere’s close to his online performance. Hence - it can only be assumed he knew in advance a 2nd match with an IM would end poorly. The entire scenario was set-up for $profit with zero regards towards sportsmanship. He sacrificed any and all respect but obviously cared less. He had his 15 minutes of fame and a few shekels in his pocket. That the match was watched in the 1st place is a crying shame.

Thousands of ignorant, smart-aleck Internet warriors defended this cheating scum whereas only a very small fraction represented the voice of reason. If we go by these numbers I can easily imagine how ... unpleasant and backwards these people in general must be.

I invite anyone to feel offended by my words, heck, report me even. I know what I know.

The thousands out of 270 million? That's like a thousandth of a percent. As @llama47 pointed out, this isn't a representative sample, and the media skewed the story to inflame people for clicks and views.

There's no honest logical way you can judge a population based on a tiny, unrepresentative sample.
