How did CC get through the Chinese firewall?

As some of you might not know, the entirety of China has a firewall that acts like GoGuardian: it gets rid of access to certain sites and apps. But in this case, it's any site/app that doesn't meet both requirements:

-Xi Jinping, chairman of China, approves of it.

-Was made in China.

Chess.com was made by an American in America. Yet there are Chinese users. I'm not complaining, but how did this happen?

I kinda forgot where I found it, but I do remember either @erik or another person with the staff flair mentioning it.

Some users from China use special (maybe illegal) apps or websites to get through the firewall, but I believe most of the Chinese users here logged into cc after they left China so firewall no longer exists

Thank you!
