How do you deal with dry texters?

I just answer them, but the empty chit chat is kinda annoying sometimes
I always answer them also. But if the conversation is going nowhere and I find myself carrying a conversation and getting bland responses back, I just move on.

answer them
sometimes ask them what they want
some seem like breadcrumbers and creeps.
when I don't know what to say I might say "." or smth like "gbfedwkgtefds"
but I do those for other reasons too so.

Its always just kinda annoying, but i answer them and the convo ends in few minutes… waste of time
theres usually like 2 main cenarios for me:
- they just do a few min of random talk and then we forget abt eachother until they randomly repeat the dialogue like half year later
- they start the random convo and eventually actually jusy wanted to ask fir promotion in your club

I do that sometimes. But I don't want to come off as rude by saying "Why did you message me?" Usually, they're very kind.

Ye some ppl seem to get rlly offended when I ask what they want lol.

I don't like continuing a conversation like that at all. I just ignore, and move on until the cycle repeats. It may seem rude to do so, but I find that it's reasonable.

Yeah, that's why I usually just don't say that. I let them dictate the conversation, since they started it in the first place.

XDDDDDDD

Bland conversations may be the result of the fact that you are talking to some random person through chess.com.

one of the things I hate the most abt it is that they don't rlly set a clear goal in the convo.
like u, (the person being talked to from those ppl. or robots.) basically cant tell how long the convo will last and WTH THIS PERSON IS so ur just saying hihihhruhfinewhby????? and the chat just gets buried overtime by other chats (including other hihihi ones) XD TvT and ur dms are filled with garbage chats from months ago.
making it harder for u to get to the chats u want to keep.
ANNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I don't usually delete my chats unless they're garbage ones and I'm just sure enough that they won't talk rlly again and/or I'll just risk it.
We all know this person. The bland texter, or messenger. The person you have a hard time talking to because they provide bland responses, leaving you wondering whether you should respond or not. I've had some conversations with people on this site which have made me ask this question. I've been messaging with people I'm just now meeting for the first time but have been unsure of how to deal with their messaging habits. So... here's what I mean.
I got a message from someone I hadn't met before but seemed familiar. Here's how the conversation went.
Her: Hi
Basix: Hello, hello.
Her: Hru
Basix: I'm doing pretty well, thanks for asking. How are you?
Her: Good
Now, after this, I ignored her for a little bit. I thought that since she had messaged me first, she had something to ask me, or something. But after a while, she hadn't said anything at all. So I continued to wait for something, until she said "hello" again. Now, in times like these, I strongly believe that I am not obligated to carry a conversation that I didn't start. I feel that if I am messaged to, the sender should have a topic in mind, and we can go from there. I think it's common courtesy to expect the sender of a message to not say "hello, how are you" and move on with a "good". After this, we had a decent conversation about school and other things. But for the past few days, I've noticed the same repeated cycle.
Hi.
Hello!
hru
I'm ok, thanks for asking. How are you?
Good
2 hours later.
Hello
Hi.
Wyd
Nothing much. What are you up to?
Nothing rn
So I ask again. How do you guys deal with dry texters and messengers like such. They come up so often, and it feels rude to just ignore them all the time.
