iOS 17.6.1 WiFi and Bluetooth problems

Sort:

Im on my iPhone, and recently got iOS 17.6.1. Now, my Bluetooth and WiFi are turned off, and every time I try to turn them back on, they turn right back off. I tried restarting my phone, but that failed. I tried turning them on in settings, but the slider for WiFi was greyed out and could not be interacted with, and Bluetooth literally showed nothing. What do I do?

Btw, I’m asking people on chess.com bcuz it’s the only way I can access help online due to screen time restrictions.

Lucky I got iOS 16.8 😮‍💨

1 maybe there are restriction updates that came with 17.6 that result in your wifi being restricted. Depending on how strict your parents set your restrictions, and also the age they set you to, this could be unfixable.

They set it to allow 12+ I think. But I don’t think that would be the issue.

5 Welp, best to check the patch notes. But 12 and under restricted phones are known to be a lot more restrictive than past that

How do I find the patch notes? I have browsers blocked (they have plenty of 17+ stuff on em)

Bumping so that my question can be answered

how old are you or did you just set it by accident

RealTactics960
My parents did. Im 14

They just set it so everything but the essentials has screen time only at 2 AM, since I’m not up then. Then they removed it for chess.

You aren’t awake at 2 am?
RealTactics960
Not usually

I searched up a video, and it said that my options are restarting my phone (which failed), updating the iOS software (there is no update), turning off content restrictions on my phone (if it means temporarily then this is a good solution but I think it means permanently), or deleting all the data on my phone. I do NOT want to do #4, so I will wait and ask my parents to try #3. 🤞

Meanwhile my phone is still asking me to update to 15.8.3 lol

there was no set of patch notes specifically for 17.6.1, just 17.6 in general.

APersonWhoYoyos

But given that they mention changing something bluetooth related, that could have something to do with it

Theres also this on a different website but it's a lot less detailed

iOS 17.6.1

This update includes important bug fixes and addresses an issue that prevents enabling or disabling Advanced Data Protection.
