Depiction of Saint Nicholas of Myra, a Christian Bishop who lived in Turkey around the 3rd century and reportedly gave secret gifts to many of his followers. The original Santa Claus.
Traditional looking Santa Claus, derived from Dutch Sinterklass, an affectionate shortened version of Sint Nicolaas. A fat man in a red suit with a white beard that lives in the North Pole with his elves and delivers presents on his reindeer pulled sleigh. Much of why he looks this way and does what he does is down to how he was depicted in 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' by Clement Clarke Moore, published in 1822 and massively popular in the US.
