My short review of the film Pawn Sacrifice

The film Pawn Sacrifice is a very very good film. Toby Maguire and Liev Schreiber as respectively Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky turn in expert performances. The movie is part of the currently ubiquitous "mad genius " genre. For viewers who aren't familiar with Fischer's life story and/or Reykjavik 1972 the film does a more than admirable job of creating drama and suspense. For those who already ARE familiar (like me-I had just turned 12 in the summer of 1972) I recommend the excellent HBO documentary Bobby Fischer Against the World

FYI-there is very little about actual chess stuff in Pawn Sacrifice but it's still an entertaining film.
