Logic (as a formal system) can be used (detached) from the position of arbitarainess and applied as a way to utilize the concept of "reason", but logics can be applied using different logical models. For example, if I go to the store and tell the clerk that he/she is fired, the proper (contextual) response depends on the (contextual) situation, hence reality is a language. This means that words, concepts and ideas are all part of what we call "reality" (in the abstract sense), thus we are living an illusion. Hence, 2 + 2 is naturally 5.

Logically viewing one " * " and then adding another one will always only give you " * * ". So if you wish to add " ** " + " ** " in no way will you arrive with a five.
