Chess.com does have an open forum where you can talk about politics and/or religion.
Religion and Politics

I found the oldest possible thread I could post on. Everything else is locked or the page doesn’t have any threads. This happens to be called “religion and politics”.
so a nice bump I found. Enjoy the oldest thread I could possibly find in the off-topic forums.

There was a thread even older. But someone found it and posted on it so you'll not find it at the very end now.

You just have to state politics and religion in a sentence like this. I’m not talking about the subject. Just saying the word.

Back in those days...this question was reasonable but for now it's understood. Still somehow some people think it's okay to discuss this everywhere.

Lets considere some things already known from the old times (1960 or before)
1.Usually discussions about religion lead to arguing if God exists or not.
2. Usually discussions about politics end in offense and insults.
Here at an international forum discussion about politics can easily become a thread of people from a country offending another.
Avoid these discussion is also a way to keep forum focused in chess.
It's easier to break an atom than a man's opinion.

I think it’s fair to say that there’s good reason to keep God out of politics.
Religion and politics are both combustible subjects, and throwing them into each other’s arms is sure to cause a fire. Civil life has very different duties from religious life. You cannot defend yourself in court for breaking a law by claiming that God told you to. For these and other reasons almost every country erects a wall to keep God out of the Constitution, yet it seems to be a leaky wall - religious belief is rarely far from sight when politics grow heated. Life isn’t compartmentalised, and issues from abortion and birth control to gay rights and stem cell research, bring up personal morality, an area where for millions of people God’s voice is louder than anyone else’s.

Why is it that...
"Chess.com also does not allow political or religious debate in the forums."?
Surely it would be a good thing for the many keen minds of chess.com to have an open forum for these topics?
I would like to clarify I am talking about the right to discuss these topics and not discussing the topics themselves.
