EXACTLY !!!!! I asked chess.com about this at the time and asked why are they picking sides but was ignored. Well, they decided they wanted to pick sides in a political event. So, I am asking them to pick one here. Why that one and not this one?

YUP, I agree. But Chess.com took a political stand. I asked them why this conflict (russia -ukraine at the time) and not one of the hundreds of others going on around the world. But, they had their reasons and didnt feel it necessary to answer me. I can respect that. But, here there was the murder of 700 and counting people just committed. That is the equivalent of 20x 911's in the USA by population size. There are parades of people holding palestinian flags in support and cheering for this murder. So, I figure that if they block the Russian flag they should certainly block the Palestinian flag for this provocation. They have associated this flag with the murder of 700 children and mothers and elderly and taken the same hostage. Really a question that makes me want an answer. Are the people in charge of of chess.com UPset about Russian invading Ukraine but are OK about Palestinians /Hamas k murdering 700+ and holding 100s of hostages? I would find that hard to believe. But, since they set the standard, I am wondering why they are not holding to it.

One last thing about my question to them at the time. I was asking why they are banning people flags from certain countries during the conflict with my main point being that isnt one of the great things about CHess that we can come together and play a game peacefully against a geopolitical adversary and potentially learn to communicate. I play folks from Iran or Countries hostile to the USA and think nothing of it other than haow great it is that we can find something in common we enjoy. That will only lead to good things not bad things. That is why I thought the whole flag-banning thing was silly. BUT, since they set the standard, I would assume that they should certainly ban the flags of folks cheering and supporting terrorists.. GO figure.

Share? August 15, 2005 is the date Israel withdrew from Gaza and returned it completely to Palestinian control in the hopes for peace. They have no Israelis there (who arent hostages or corpses) They gave up land for peace and even pulled out their own settlers. Instead, they have been dealing with rockets and incursions for years. But, this one takes the cake and I fear they have poked the bear one too many times with this level of depravity.

I agree. But, Chess.com decided flags had to go. So, If Russian flags can go I am wondering why Palestinian flags are being allowed. I am looking for consistency. Personally, I am against banning any flag and think we should be able to play peacefully with our geopolitical foes and know that we are playing them so that we can foster some communication. But, since they are making the standard and setting the rules they ought to be consistent. Or, is it only the conflicts against some are societies bad and against other societies okay?
My 10 cents? It was a mistake to blank out the Russian flag. Group punishments are vile.

If chess.com should have removed the Russian flag like they have, then they should absolutely remove the Palestinian flag. In fact, they’d be even more justified, given the literal atrocities that Hamas is committing, plus the fact that Palestine isn’t an actual country.
But that’s if chess.com should have removed Russia’s flag. I personally don’t think that was the right call. But even so, the fact does remain that Palestine is not an actual country, so it’s odd to have their flag as an option.
