This funny but weird story in like a 2019/2020 OTB tourney

so I was in the U2200 section (cuz I was overrated) but anyways...

there were these 2 adult friends and this happened...

they played a joke game, like they completely closed the position up with the pawns, and just had fun...

however, the arbiter was like "no".

the arbiter went to the board, told the 2 men to stop the game, since this "wasn't chess" and explaining it was a serious tournament...

the two men (one of them which I knew forgot to mention lol) drew the game, but literally everyone loved that game xD

I still don't know if the arbiter's decision was correct, but it was in the U1600/U1700 (I forgot) section, so they were skilled enough to play a decent game, but it's still kind of weird that the arbiter stopped the game...
Anyways, I'd like to know your guy's opinions on the actions of the arbiter, because I'm still remembering it to this day...

I was 1700 but then I tilted right after in a bi-weekly tourney

this kind of think is common, like when 2 friends agree to a draw beforehand and so play a dumb opening just for fun. but it is unethical xD Because it can decide a winner in the tournament unfairly

Tbh i dont think the arbiter should be able to do that at the end of the day its chess and I’m sure if beginners were doing that in a rated otb tournament the arbiter wouldve been fine with that. But that is a cool story ngl.
