1.Why do many people swing their arms as they walk?

2.Why are manhole covers round?

3.How do they make m&ms?

4.Fred and bob have $21 between them. Fred has $20 more than Bob. How much money doess each have. No fractions, decimals, mixed numbers, or percentages in your answer.

5.An empty glass ban hold 1000ml of water. A drop can hold 0.5 mililiters of water. How much water does it have?

(I'll post more)

You probably heard of most of these, but I'll try to arrgue against your answer if I find a flaw in it. Let the debate begin!

1. Balance. More specifically, counterbalancing the asymmetry created by moving a leg forward.

2. I'm thinking it's because they use the least material for the amount of usable space. Since people aren't square, and are generally somewhat rounded, so we can't exploit corners well, meaning that (at least) a rounded rectangle would be just as useful. Presumably it also is merely a reflection of the round pipes they cover, and pipes are round because this is stronger.

3. I'm thinking with a mold.

4. Fred has at least $20, Bob has at most $1. For every cent Fred has over $20, Bob has as many cents under $1.

5. What?

4) or... Fred has $21, Bob has none

5) I'm guessing you mean the, "emtpy," glass, which holds none at the moment.

johnallengay

4. Fred cannot have $21, as he has only 20 dollars more than Bob.

17000mph

that's true...oops

ivandh

Fred has $20.50.

I have to say, the only thought that was provoked by this was "why?"

Well, you can argue that, but technically if Fred has $21 more dollars than Bob, he does have $20 more as well. Just a little more.

Also,@ivandh. I know. So,me aren't great.Just didn't want to post just one.

@johnallengay: If they use a mold, how do they get the little m on the candy? And how is it removed? I mean, the candy part sticks to the chocolate, but not the mold. Why? Be specific.

3.)

The answer to the second question is that if it were rectangular, there'd be a possibility for the cover to drop into the hole, as it would have a longer diagonal than one of it's sides. With a circular shape, this isn't possible.

1. I think it is humman nature

2. I don't know what that is =[

3. Choclate and mold

4. Fred has $20 and Bob has $1

5. Is that a trick question? 1000ml? 2000 drops?

jim995

@americablanco: This still doesn't explain the little m on the m&ms.

@philidor_position: That is the one ( of many) possible answers, but obviously the hole's shape matters too.

@annbell On #4, Fred only has $19 more than bob in that. And on #5, the glass is empty. It's asking you how much water is in the glass, not how many drops it can hold.

Also, to all: No one has gotten the other answer for #4.

jim995

No one yet has come up with a way to get the ms on m&ms.

Note: these are not thought provoking. I just can't help but to post them.
