Hot but cloudy. Depressing weather for an astronomer. However, I may have a reason. I have just bought a new bit for my telescope and that sort of activis usually followed by weeks of cloud, rain, cloud, snow and so on. Remember the eclipse in 1999? I bought a new eyepiece the week before and never saw the Sun for six weeks after that.

The topic of weather is always a useful ploy during the game. When my position on the board looks bad, I try a comment like "the clouds are gathering" to lighten the tension.
