Currently Ben Stokes. Of all time Ian Botham. I love that each player has had great days and days to forget. It reminds us to keep humble on the good days and persevere on the bad days.

There are several different criteria that could be called into play. The most elegant and easy-on-the-eye batsman I've seen has to be David Gower. I grew up watching Hampshire in the 70's, a line-up including not only Andy Roberts and later Malcolm Marshall, but also Barry Richards and Gordon Greenidge, arguably the strongest opening pair in cricket history. Richards in particular can probably be bracketed with Lara and Tendulkar among the all-time greats. Who knows what havoc he would have wreaked if he had played more than 15 tests.

My choice for favourite keeper has to be between Alan Knott, Jack Russell (that legside stumping off Gladstone Small!), and Sarah Taylor.

My choice for favourite all-rounder is between Stokes, Botham, and Kallis, with an honourable mention for Imran Khan and Richard Hadlee.

My favourite spinner has to be Warne; for some reason I saw more of him than I did of Murali. In second place for me personally is Derek Underwood, the reason being that before I converted into wicketkeeping in my early teens, I bowled orthodox slow medium left arm, turning it away from the right hander with the keeper standing up.

My favourite fast bowler is difficult to choose. The choice is between Lillee, Thompson, Shaoib Akhtar, Alan Donald, Roberts, Holding.
