There was this guy I knew who would walk up and down the main street from group to group just trying to cadge any smokes, drugs, booze, or food from anybody. This was at 16 years old before we could really get into the pubs, and pub-culture such as buying rounds easily filtered out any idiots.
He would even try to call "saves" (calling saves in England means "save me the end of that") on people eating a sandwich. The response was obviously f*** off you scrounge.
For a laugh, we got together and picked out everyone with value. We then decided to find a spot at the back of this field where we went with cigarettes, drugs, and booze. The half-dozen or so scroungers were frantically searching for all of us each day. It was hilarious. It was like Atlas Shrugged - the hooligan edition.
