It's pretty normal.

It only changes at (I think) 50 rating points difference.

It's normal. You're in the same rating pool. Sometimes when I lose a variant game against a lower rated player my rating gets reduced by like 50. It's ok

8 rating points is what you lose normally bud

SpacePodz
? This doesn’t seem unusual at all. Why the anger?

Your logic is flawed. If you lose against a higher rated player, you lose less points. If you lose against a lower rated player you lose more points. A loss of 8 points is a widely accepted number for an opponent of about the same range.  The exact difference of rating plays no difference. You would have lost 8 points too if you guys had the same rating. Learn how the site works before complaining.

A rating difference of roughly 0 to 50 (forgot if it was 25 or 50) between two players results in 8 rating points gain/loss.

A rating difference of 100 points between two players results in a +10/-6 rating points change for the lower rated player for a win/loss.

A rating difference of around 600 points between two players results in a +16/-0 rating points change for the lower rated player for a win/loss.

LazyDog24

You lost 6 points instead of 8 because your opponent was higher rated mate.

aviation18

Absolutely.

Besides, if you were to win that game, wouldn't you be happy with 8 points VS that opponent?

6 and 8 are different.

The widely accepted definition is-if you lose, you lose rating. If you win you win rating. When I won against someone rated 200+ my rating, I only got +6 rating.

Now?
