Chess opening Explorer?

I got a gold membership and can't seem to find my chess opening Explorer? I'm using the app, where it says it's a benefit.

You are not supposed to get it with gold.

If there is a different benefit chart available for the app, that lists it as a benefit for gold members, please post it. 

I don't see how it could be. I don't think it is available on the apps to anybody, even the Diamond or Platinum members. You have to use the desktop version.

It really is a great benefit.  Unfortunately, it hasn't worked properly for at least three years since the servers got overwhelmed by the number of games being played and then they fell tens of millions of games behind... If you search old forum threads, you can see that staff has made various attempts to remedy this situation (through adding additional servers, etc.), but to date none have really worked.  I believe that the "online games" (correspondence chess) are more caught up. However, it seems that they have made a little progress recently with live chess games.

Somehow my 5200 live blitz games got loaded several months ago. The ability to sort out your record by opening and result is priceless. I have discovered several flaws in my opening play that were probably contributing to some losses. ( In particular, I had a dismal record playing the Alapin.)

I am pleased that my own games got loaded. However, it seems like most people, even premium members and long-time members, haven't had their live games loaded yet.  No member of staff has come on to the forum recently to give an update of their progress.

When they do get this straightened out, it could be one of the lead benefits of premium membership.

It looks like none of your games are available in the database, so you can't use it either, despite your diamond membership. (lol)

/ By the way, if you look at the chart again, you will see that platinum membership has the "Openings and Game Explorer" benefit listed too. (lol)

We were talking about game explorer, which shows you move by move what masters have played in various games and their results but it is also supposed to give you a way to look at all the games you have played, by opening and result:

Well, that's what I'm talking about too. You can see all the master games. And I know I can view my own games with the explorer, but I've only done it on the computer. That, I don't know how to do on my phone.

The origin of this thread was the complaint of the gold member who couldn't use the Game Explorer on his app. And I said, well, that's not surprising, you're not supposed to receive this benefit as a gold member, on an app or on a desktop. You have to be a platinum or diamond member.

Now here you come stating that it works just fine for you as a gold member. That surprises me.  Why don't you check again?

I looked for your statistics. It shows that you do well as white, winning 50% of the games you play. However, you have a very hard time as black, losing 64% of the 75 games you have played as black.

These statistics show that you have lost more than 61% of the 44 games where your opponent opened with e4 and nearly 73% of the 22 games where your opponent opened with d4.  And you also have losing records against 1. c4, 1. Nf3 and 1. f4. In fact, the only opening you have done well against is 1. d3.  

Don't you want to know why?  I know why. You can drill down move by move and see where your moves got you into trouble.  I'd consider upgrading from a gold to platinum just to get more of this information.

I can't speak to whether or not I'm supposed to have access to this feature, but I assure you, I do.

I apologize if I've been upsetting or confusing--I was just trying to be helpful. (And thank you for the advice. I might start using the explorer to improve my play. )

I'm glad that you have it even if I am at a loss to understand why.  I guess I just have to stop making reference to that membership benefit chart.

I see that the difference in our two Game Explorer charts is that yours includes the live and online games while mine just includes the live games. 

Yep, that's the difference.  And I've read elsewhere that that benefits chart is outdated. For example, Gold members now get 5 Tactics Trainer problems a day, not 3.

Too bad this discussion is in the Premium Members forum. Most people can't see it (Unless that's no longer a benefit for premium members...)  I wish more people would make fixing the Game Explorer a priority.

 Haha! Sorry. I meant that free members get 5 TT problems, not Gold.
