I activated my free trial, and it used like 1 euro from my paypal, WHY ? you said its free

raptor113

I really demand an answer and want my money back, and tell me how to turn off this premium ?!

RonaldJosephCote

The free part gets tacked on to the tail end, not the front end. When your subscription expires, you'll get 10 days, or 2 weeks extraUndecided

I dont understand your answer

Like they said, you just need to type in your card to confirm you cant use trial on multiple accounts, and it will be totally FREEThis is first time ever I used my card on chess.com, 1 euro isnt a lot, but they lied !

RonaldJosephCote

You get the free part after your membership expires. Lets say you gave them money on Nov 1 2015.  One year later on Nov 1 2016 you'll expire. They will give you 2 weeks free at that time, so you won't get billed for renewal till Nov 15.

RonaldJosephCote

Whoa!, wait a minuteUndecided  who said anything about "multiple accounts"?

RonaldJosephCote

Nothing is free. You buy a yr, you get a yr. But in this case, you buy a yr, you get 1 yr + 2 weeks.

When you sign up for a free trial of many sites, they will require your payment info to start the trial.

To confirm that the information you have provided for payment is accurate, they will do a "test" charge of a small fee ( in your case, one euro) to confirm that payment information. It has probably already been refunded to you.

This is a common practice, and I have had it happen many times.

I imagine that when your free trial expires, they will charge your card to continue membership, so be sure to cancel BEFORE the expiration of the trial, if you find you don't like it.

fuzzbug thank you for your helpful answer !

Are you sure they refunded 1 euro ?

And after 10 days where do i cancel trial ?

fuzzbug

To be honest, I don't know if they have refunded it already, only you could verify that. But in the past, I have had $.01, or $0.99 or $1 charged as a test, (usually as free trials for a music service), and have always gotten credit for it.

I hope you will like chess.com!

You have to cancel the trial BEFORE the 10 days completely run out or YOU WILL GET CHARGED.

If you decide you want to cancel, the cancel option is in the Account section. http://www.chess.com/home/account

You need to read the terms of service more carefully before you enter a card before "free trial". It is indeed free but you have to manually cancel the renewal. Why did you think they asked for the card number in first place?

I've noticed that when something is confusing, it's generally because it's confusingly confusing. "And I don't like it anymore than you men.... But if that's the way he likes it, he gets it."

You just entered your credit card information into a website becaue they said it was "Free"?

You didnt read your credit cards TOS?

You didnt read the TOS?

And we wonder why credit card/identity theft is so easy...
