"open" chess board on chess.com

I was wondering if there is an open chess board where I can put any piece at any position on this wonderful website. For example, I like to study from books sometimes and would like to use a virtual chessboard as opposed to a physical board. In order to really feel the position, I like to set up the board as the illustration in the book portrays so I can move the pieces around. Is that feasible on this site or does anybody know of a site where it is? Thanks.

Yes, there are two places you can do this.

One is the game editor  http://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor.html

the other is in live chess.  ( see this page )

If you need any help on either, please let me know.

ok, but how you can quickly access the analysis-board from the menu, without having to use its URL?

I see no way to do this on the analysis board. Maybe you need a certain tier membership?

No, you should be able to do it as a basic member. Just click the Setup option.

Ah yes, thank you. I had two windows side-by-side and so that area was collapsed and hidden. Thanks much!
