Best resources (apps) for kids?

Hi everyone!

I'm just getting started with my 5-year old kid, and I was wondering what are the best resources out there in your experience? Books, sites, apps, videos.

Separately, I'm currently more specifically looking for a good free tactics trainer for kids - must have good tactics sub-1000 and work well on iOS. I find chesskid to be a bit steep (8USD per month) for a resource for kids. I don't need the videos and stuff (kid doesn't speak english).

How to beat ur dad in chess is a good book. U could read it to him.

For teaching a kid that young, I highly recommend the book _Chess is Child's Play_.

For apps, check out Jay's Chess Academy for iOS or Android.  More info here:  http://coachjayschessacademy.com

It's specifically intended for kids under 1000.

Dinosaur Chess is another good app.

Thanks guys!

Dinosaur chess sounds awesome, it's like her favorite thing. I can't believe I missed this one :-)
