they added a really annoying voice to the coach in the game reviews. never turned something off so quickly lol
Add AI Voices to NPCs

Really bortbort? That's one of the features I would have suggested. They have it already, and it's terrible? I can't find how to toggle that on. It certainly doesn't play by default.
EDIT: It never was on before, and I just went to a review of a game, and it started to play. Creepy? When did they add that?
I don't think it's annoying--you can toggle it. And I think sometimes I'm in the mood to sit back, go move by move, and listen to what Coach has to say (in terms of text to voice, this isn't bad at all), and sometimes I'm in the mood to toggle it off and move about the review in silence.
Knowing the internet and its polarization, the next person to post will say how much they love the coach voice.
OK don't get mad, I'm not trolling. I honestly think if implemented correctly, it would be a very cool (toggleable) addition to playing through the amazing gambit of AI bots here.
I work with LLMs a lot, as well as utilize Eleven Labs to create very realistic AI voice prints. We literally have the tech now to do this, and do it well. I won't get technical here.
Chess.com, I'd like to make a proposition: Hire me, and let me hire a very small team, and I will build out really fun personalities for each unique character. You could keep us on full time to create all the new monthly characters. Sounds sweet right?
This is all spit-balling, but of course your actual real-life name talent would be excluded, there are far too many legal and ethical issues sure to arise, so it's probably just best to stick to the AI-bots.
Now seriously, what does the community think? Would you find it cool to be able to toggle on a voice play-back when an AI bot says a line? They would all be unique and realistic.
I don't want to get into ethics here, obviously we wouldn't want to hire a bunch of real voice actors to do this, that would be insanely costly and time consuming. Not that this AI bot thing would be cheap, but it would be cheaper than hiring dozens of voice actors, yes. I don't consider this something that is taking human jobs, because this is just a thought experiment about a bunch of AI bots. Anywho. This actually came from a dream I had last night--yes, I actually dreamt about playing chess on Chess.com and having voices for the AI bots...it was so cool.
Thanks for letting me share!
