Chess.com for Nintendo Switch

Chess.com would easily be ported over to the Nintendo Switch, and I think it would be opened to a new and large audience of people.

Hello!

I think this would be a good idea! I do play nintendo switch and It'll be cool if we have it!

The problem is that how do we move pieces when we are using the nintendo switch? Also, wouldn't that take a long time to make this? I am not saying that it's impossible, but there are obstacles we face and yet we can overcome it.

There would be a cost/benefit analysis to do it. Since it would require programming resources to code, test, and update, there would have to be a significant number of Switch users to hope for a percentage of premium upgrades to even pay for the effort.

Can the switch do ad supported apps? If not, it isn't very likely to happen, in my opinion.

My grandson plays Fortnite on his Nintendo switch for hours each day. We would love for him to also play chess on the switch. We are buying a chess app for the switch as a present. It would be great to play games with him  using chess.com

chess with him using chess.com

I agree with the OP

There might be some downsides, but other than that

It's a good idea

What online play opportunities exist for  a Nintendo Switch chess player using an application like Ultra Chess?

Oof

Just realized, they would need a nintendo online subscription to play online, or to use it.

I really support this idea. Great one @aydencook03

This would be a great idea. They already have an iPhone app, which I imagine could port fairly easily. In fact, if you’re playing handheld, you could use the Switch’s touchscreen, so it could feel very similar.

It can support ad apps. Take YouTube on Switch for example.

Porting chess.com to nintendo switch wouldn't be such a great idea imo. First off, it won't be able to support joycons (imagine playing bullet or blitz with joycons!) or any sort of controller, so you always have to play it handheld mode. But if you do it like that, then there isn't a reason why you can't just get the chess.com app and play on a normal mobile device.

Handheld mode would be great! There is no need to support joycons. Switch has a touch screen. And OLED version screen is bigger than mobile phone has.

If Nintendo only included a web browser on all their Switch models it'd be great, you could run chess.com as well.

The_FreakyHippo

Yeah that would be great!

You can play chess.com on the Samsung smart fridge, but not Nintendo?!!!

Nintendo should just add an internet browser to play chess.com online.

Isn't the online membership only for games made by Nintendo? I'm pretty sure you can play games not made by Nintendo such as Fortnite and rocket league without an online membership.

Correct, also, I have discovered that Nintendo Switch consoles have a "hidden" web browser that you can use for 20 minutes, but as far as I know this should be taken as a rumour, haven't been able to factcheck myself.

And they should ensure it is fair.
