No it isn't. Free will is an illusion, like freedom.

lichess has a better player pool once you get over 2000, The player pool on chess.com is very weird at whatever elo you are at. Play lichess if you want higher quality games. Play chess.com if you want game analysis/dont care

I like the layout of chess.com better and I like that it’s what the streamers use so you can kind of get a sense of what your elo is compared to everyone else. Lichess seems like it has better functionality. For example you can choose to hide your rating or the material count, which you can’t do on chess.com.

Its more like asking people if they like garden picked foods or processed macdonalds

DrSpudnik

Does McDonald's still sell salads?

This forum is like asking someone if they prefer McDonald's or Burger King... in a McDonald's.

whiteknight1968

I play on both.

I tend to prefer Lichess because it has the classical category for slower games. This site has everything from 10/0 to 60/0 lumped in as "rapid" which makes its rapid ratings meaningless if you like slower games,

I'm a Lichess virgin and obviously too low in Elo to get the benefits described above ....so I guess I'm a lifer . I do sort of feel indoctrinated so it's lucky I like chess.

Chess.com should have classical pool and ratings and I will never go to other sites again.
