Although I'm not someone that has played much chess at all I have still paid attention to tournaments and found the games interesting to follow, but Chess is lacking a database with organized information about the tournaments, their brackets and so on like Liquipedia does for e-sports.
Not only could you have organized tournament details on such a site, but you could also fill it up with various player profiles and for example add list of the Chess player in questions record in previous tournaments.
For reference this is an example of a liquipedia tournament page in this case for CS:GO. One of the neat features is the fact that you can click on the small info icons next to matches to see when they will be played and get links to where it will potentially be streamed as such info is great to have.
I just want a clear and organized site to view Chess tournament details instead of having to rummage through news, blogs and weirdly formatted tournament sites.
There is more now than there ever has been. Almost every event of any consequence has a website and often posts live games and has live commentary. The events page here lists most major events-

are sites like chess-results.com which publish crosstables from smaller tournaments.
Online tournaments with real $$ prizes have really just started. If there is money available from sponsors, I'm sure the quality and timeliness of chess information will improve.
There are comprehensive online databases of over the board games like Chessbase. They have primarily sold their info to chess professionals. It will be interesting to see how they evolve.
I am sure that any existing sites would like to shave off a tiny percentage of the money the video games players pay to support that industry.
