Complain about the server

I want to complain about the servers of chess.com

When i play in a rapid tournament of 30 minutes it does happen regularly that the server goes down which makes me totally out of rhythm and losing in new games against the biggest noobs ever

Please make sure you have good servers or otherwise quit with this site because this is very unfair for players who pay for this site like me🚮🚮

The site has planned restarts, that happen in the early morning US time.

Sometimes there is an emergent need for a restart to fix an issue (that just happened recently).

Occasionally there can be crashes, but those are relatively rare.

This happens far too often, this is very painful and one may wonder about the fees we're paying. Every month the chess.com income must be very substantial, but what about hiring decent IP people, why those issues are far less common in concurrent (and sometimes free!) websites?

Recent issues being more common are due to high server loads. Staff are working on optimizations and capacity increases to alleviate the issues, buy it will take some time for the results to show while peak loads are being experienced.

The server also goes down for your opponents, making them 'out of rhythm' as well. So perhaps that's not why you're losing to these so-called 'noobs'.

Recently played a game where after we got to move 30 or 35 or so, my opponent simply aborted the game !!! — that is, he somehow ended the game w/o resigning, with no loss of rating points.
How did he do that ??

Your opponent didn't do anything. There was a scheduled live server restart. When that happens, all ongoing games are aborted.

The server issues have become really annoying. Sometimes it takes numerous attempts to play a move or switch pages. The site has been poor communicating with members.

There were several lengthy articles by the site in the last month explaining their current problems being caused by unexpectedly rapid growth and their plans for dealing with them in the short term.

From what I have seen, things have been improving in the last several weeks.  The site still has a ways to go but things are far better than they were a month ago.

To me, it's looking more and more like no one really cares.

Server problems can happen. But why on earth do I lose due this all the time? Me and my opponent have plenty of time on the clock, my position is good. Suddenly "reconnecting"! And after two minutes or so, I lose because I'm "offline". Not at all! All other apps including LiChess are working. Please just cancel the game. Zero points for both. That would be better than this losing for nothing.

Cancelling the game would have people cutting their connection when losing.

Good point. And Happy New Year!

Probably a connection issue.
