I understand that you prefer the old way of having the controls underneath the chess board, as it was more convenient and user-friendly. However, based on the web search results, it seems that this change was made by Chess.com as part of their recent update to improve the game review feature. BallSportsGear
According to Chess.com, the new game review feature allows you to:
Analyze your games with Stockfish 14, the strongest chess engine in the world.
See your mistakes and blunders with the new move indicator and the key icon.
Get hints and suggestions from the engine with the light bulb icon.
Retry your moves and see how the game would have changed with the circular arrow icon.
Navigate through the moves with the forward and backward arrows, or by tapping on the move list.
Share your analysis with your friends or coach with the share icon.
To access these controls, you need to scroll down to the bottom of the screen, where you will see the move list and the icons. You can also swipe left or right on the board to go to the previous or next move.
I use game review to recheck my moves and try them again all the time. Just today I noticed that the controls for that underneath the chess board are no longer there, such as the round arrow for retrying, the key, the hint, and the forward arrows. It's a giant pain to scroll all the way down to the move number, and then scroll all the way up to the board to witness the movement on the board, or to make any changes to the pieces. Please go back to the old way!
