Something that I notice happening in the chess.com forums recently is that there are many trolls running around on the chess.com forums who never get punished. I believe that this is due to a lack of moderation, as currently the moderator application process is very tedious and discouraging to many qualified individuals. Another thing I have noticed is that every single person who is 2000+ rated on the forums seems to be very helpful, serious, trustworthy and responsible, along with having a solid understanding of chess. I believe that all 2000+ rated players should automatically be granted the "Moderator" rank on chess.com, since we can be sure that they will warn and punish these trolls responsibility and we won't have to worry about them abusing their power.

EDIT: It has come to my attention that some people could cheats in order to gain 2000 rating. Which is why I suggest real name and ID be required to claim moderator, so they know you are a real person and they can permanently blacklist you if you are found to be cheating

That's a lot of moderators, and with that many, there's bound to be a few who abuse that power.

Plus, to be a moderator you have to be 18+, some 2000+ people on this website are kids; not saying that the vast majority of 2000+ are, but there is still a select few.

That's why I have suggested that multiple of these new moderators (like maybe 3-5) have to approve any punishments. Also the 18+ rule is there to discourage immature people as they are usually under 18, however as I said before in this post players with ratings of 2000+ are responsible peopl

Imagine giving this fool a moderator status. Chaos ensues.

Hey man I know you disagree with a lot of my opinions, but I wouldn't abuse my power on people who disagree with me or low rated players ruining the forums. I would only use this on blatant TOS breakers, such as the people advertising phone scams or ban evaders who don't get banned for days

Not all of them. Some can be bad people, you never know the people behind the screen until you actually see them.

no to everything you just said

So what you are saying is I sign up for chess.com, then I pick advanced then I start at 1500, then I win 1 game against a 1700, then play 4 more games against 4 100s, then I get to 2000 and I get moderator.

Yes rating manipulation can be an issue for people getting free mod, which is why I suggested that you have to submit your ID so they can ensure trolls don't keep coming back on different accounts and they can take a minute to see if your rating is manipulated or actually earned. Maybe even add a requirement of like 100+ rated games, also I don't think that's enough to get 2000

That would just be way too much time and work having to be put into that method, which is why I think it wont get added.

Allow to explain, if chess.com gives mod to 2000+ elo ppl for nothing then let's say this site is going to get cooked and some kind of fried lol like I mean there are members which can't be trusted and most of the members that got mod for free will probably abuse their power and ban members for nothing. your idea's are always useless chess.com will never listen to you!!

Dude, it was you and only you who raised this dead troll thread from the grave.

HangingPiecesChomper

You and your buddy Honchcrow are lucky that moderators don't do what they are supposed to do. Both of you should have been banned months ago for your nonstop trolling and spamming.

HangingPiecesChomper

if the moderators did what they were supposed to do, you would probably get a warning for your constant trolling magipi

The problem is that anyone can see what I am doing and what you are doing.

You have never had a single comment anywhere that was helpful or even neutral. Only trolling and abuse.

Moderators are allowing it for some reason, but maybe that can change.

Good, The forum has returned from his grave 🗿

Yeah it's a shame that these trollers are getting away without any punishment. But if this suggestion got implemented, the forums wouldn't be filled with obvious trollers like magipi flooding the forums!

StandStarter
